We're planting 800 native woodland trees on Penbeagle Hill in St Ives as well as planting fruit and nut trees in our orchard.
From end of Dec until Feb we're planting 800 trees and bushes on Penbeagle Hill, overlooking St Ives, Rosewall Hill, Bussouw reservoir, the sea and is just above St Ives Community Orchard. We are planting native trees - oak, hazel, holly, alder, elder, hawthorn, downy birch as well as flowering bushes dog rose, field rose and broom.
Sponsor a tree and you will receive a Tree gift card or Certificate that we can post to you or you can collect from various collection points. You, or the person you are gifting the tree to, are also welcome to come along and help us plant the trees. After sponsoring a tree, email [email protected] with your address and we can pop it into the post for you.
Covid Notice: In lockdown, volunteer services can continue so social distanced tree planting is going ahead with a few existing volunteers, however we aren't encouraging more people to join us. Therefore we will post tree cards to anyone who sponsors a tree. Simply email [email protected] with the name, message, love from name and address to go in the card.
All the money raised is going towards our community orchard projects to buy more fruit and nut trees for all to enjoy.
See below the Gift cards you can receive.

By creating woodlands with wildflower glades along the lower areas of Penbeagle hill we hope to increase biodiversity and capture carbon. We all need to join the countrywide effort to plant as many trees as we can to help capture carbon to mitigate climate change. At the moment only 13% of the UK’s land area is covered by trees (compared with an EU average of 37%). Climate change however is only half the battle, we are also facing a biodiversity crisis. UK has lost13% of our native species abundance since 1970 and this will only get worse if things go on unchanged. By planting new native woodland with UK-grown trees, we also extend and create havens for wildlife, boosting biodiversity. Over the last few years we've planted at least 1000 trees which are nearly all thriving.
