Any funds raised beyond shipping / postage costs, will be invested back into the Femicide Census and AAFDA - a charity which aids families bereaved by femicides in the UK.
Men’s violence against women is a leading cause of the premature death for women globally, but research in the UK and Europe is limited and unconnected, and government and media re/actions to the daily murders of women dismissive at best.
The Femicide Census, aims to improve available data by providing detailed comparable data about femicides in the UK since 2009, including demographic and social factors and the methods men selected to kill women. By collating femicides, it shows agencies and officials alike that these killings are NOT isolated incidents, and that in fact, many follow repeated patterns. By highlighting these patterns, it seeks to help prevent future femicides. Read more about the census HERE.
Co-founders Karen Ingala-Smith and Clarrie O'Callaghan have worked tirelessly to forge the first ever decade overview of femicides in the UK. The results are shocking and unacceptable: and our MPs and governments need to pay heed to the failings of our systems if they truly want to save the lives of their female constituents.
Similarly, the impacts upon children of femicides continues to be ignored. Bringing to the forefront the confusion, pain and grief caused by domestic violence as experienced by children, Onjali Q Rauf's 'The Star Outside My Window' tells the story of Aniyah: a stargazer whose worlds has been rocked by just such a crime.
HELP US send a copy the Femicide Census 2020 together with a copy of The Star Outside My Window to as many MPs and persons of significance in both parliament and media by Thursday 16th December 2020 (Human Rights Day and the final day of #16Days of activism in ending violence against women and girls).
Every penny and pound will enable us to cover postage costs to at least 40 personnel. Any precious funds NOT used, will be gifted to Femicide Census for ongoing works.
£7 will pay for the postage costs of one pack to one person.
THANK YOU...
