Can YOU help our Rabbitry team?
As advocates for animal welfare, we believe that every life matters so we’re launching a campaign to make a positive impact on the lives of countless Rabbits in need.
In recent years we have witnessed a surge in abandoned and neglected rabbits all across the country. Overcrowded shelters with long waiting lists, insufficient awareness regarding general rabbit care and welfare, backyard breeders - all playing a part in why so many rabbits are being rehomed.
Space at our Animal Centre is limited, with housing for just 20 rabbits, our waiting list is always very long but we can’t take in a new rabbit until one has been rehomed.
109.375% increase in surrendered rabbits since 2021.
Towards the end of last year we rescued 2 female rabbits and a male rabbit. One of the female rabbits, Cinnamon, had given birth to 4 kits and the other, Saffron, was pregnant. The father of both, Arlo, was quickly separated on arrival. Cinnamon had given birth to 4 kits in inadequate accommodation. Due to her circumstances and stress, sadly her 4 kits passed away not long after they were rescued. Our team hoped that Cinnamon wasn’t already pregnant again but after examination by our experienced Rabbitry team, poor Cinnamon was in fact pregnant again and had been impregnated just a day after giving birth.
Saffron, who was also pregnant, gave birth to 5 kits in our care - all happy and healthy, most have been rehomed! Cinnamon had her second lot of kits, this time 7! As Cinnamon was in a better environment and under our dedicated team's care, all 7 kits survived and they too have gone on to be rehomed.

In rehoming 3 rabbits, we gained an additional 12 more surprises.
We had all kits sexed, split and spayed/neutered, along with both mums and dad. No more surprise pregnancies! Arlo, Cinnamon and Saffron have all been rehomed and bonded with new partners. All but one pair from each mum have been rehomed! Head over to our website if you are interested in rehoming the last remaining pairs. https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/findapet/-/rspca/isle-of-wight-branch

Our mission is to rescue and rehome as many rabbits as possible, providing them with the love and care they deserve.
We have a responsibility to make a difference but we can’t do it without your support!
How can you help?
Together we can make a difference!
By joining forces, we can tackle the rabbit rehoming crisis head on. Every adoption, every share and every donation brings us one step closer to creating a brighter future for our furry companions!
