The Sheffield Philharmonic are crowdfunding for a glockenspiel to help us make beautiful orchestral music in the Steel City of Sheffield.
Why are we crowdfunding?
The Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra [SPO] is asking for donations to help us purchase a few key pieces of orchestral percussion equipment - chiefly, a new glockenspiel. The one we currently use is second hand, on loan and in desperate need of re-padding and through this campaign our ambition to attract sufficient pledges from supporters to be able to buy our own.

About Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra
Based at the Victoria Hall in the cultural heart of the City of Sheffield, the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra has been making music in the Steel City for over 75 years. Established in 1945, the SPO is Sheffield's flagship amateur orchestra and has a membership of around 80 local musicians of all backgrounds from across the City Region. The orchestra prides itself on its rich musical history, as well as its core ethos of providing a medium for local musicians to flourish.

The orchestra performs a broad and diverse repertoire of music to a wide range of people and gives no fewer than five concerts a year across Sheffield and beyond. It is particularly important to the orchestra to provide opportunities for families with young children to experience live orchestral music, and to commission new works by local composers - something we endeavour to do each season.

How can you help?
We hope you will support our fundraising efforts and help us reach our target of £1,200 towards the purchase of a glockenspiel, which we will use in almost every concert we do!
We also have an incomplete drum kit, so any funds we raise in excess of our target will be used to complete our kit and maybe even fund the purchase of a Tam-Tam (a gong!).
