SCV provide vital services and resources at the Old Splott Library, Cardiff, for those in food poverty, using surplus food donations from local sources. We provide a hot meal and fresh food to take away, improving quality of life and supporting the alleviation of poverty, together with generating long-term employment opportunities for our volunteers.

SCV supports the local community on a social and economic basis. We provide meals for the disadvantaged, homeless, financially challenged and refugee community. Through our breakfast club we provide a nutritious meal and a bag of food to take away, all for a small donation. Our volunteers come from many walks of life and offer support, guidance, encouragement and acceptance to people who feel socially isolated because of their particular problems.
Unlike food banks, our breakfast club is open to anyone and since the recession a growing number of working people are turning to us for help. As they descend into debt, with no savings and a host of creditors demanding payment, people who in normal times are usually good at managing their finances find themselves in debt for the first time in their lives. We are able to offer not only food but also practical and emotional support to people who have nowhere else to turn.
