Aim

Bringing festive cheer to individuals and families that are experiencing social isolation and poverty.

Why are we asking for your support?

“I live alone following the death of my husband of 52 years and struggle with anxiety. I live behind my 4 walls but now am not even able to heat the house.  Sometimes wonder whether life is worth living" - 78 year old person living in Ernesettle.

Sadly the above story is one of many we are hearing from people who the Plymouth City Wellbeing Hubs are currently supporting.

There is no way to sugar coat the fact that the number of people living in poverty and are socially isolated and unable to cover basic food and heating costs is rising.

For people who are lonely and isolated Christmas is such a difficult time of the year as some of their essential services close for the festive period and this is compounded by images of Christmas and people able to get together with families and friends.

For the third year running Four Greens Community Trust is going into partnership with its other Wellbeing Hub partners, Barnardos, Colebrook SW, Improving Lives Plymouth and Wolseley Trust to provide Christmas Hampers to 150 isolated and lonely people across the City of Plymouth.  Our Wellbeing Hub network and partner knowledge of their communities will ensure the hampers will go to those that need it most.  In addition, over the Christmas period our befriending service will be contacting over 200 people by telephone for a chat and to hopefully provide some social support and stimulus.

This work is in addition to the Christmas provision of the Wellbeing Hubs that includes:

  • Emergency Food Parcels for over 200 families and individuals
  • Christmas Meals for the Local Community
  • Warm Spaces
  • Community Larders
  • Mental Health support
  • Physical and Arts Based Activities.

About Four Greens Community Trust who are heading up the partnership?

We are a Wellbeing Hub and Community Interest Company which means any profits made get redistributed to our local community.

  • Partners will refer families and individuals to us that are struggling this Christmas so that we can ensure that the support goes to those most in need
  • Use of volunteer workforce to ensure all money from the appeal goes to the families and individuals we are supporting and over 25 volunteers will be involved in the collation of parcels and essentials and their delivery.
  • Raise the £ 3500 that we are seeking through this Crowdfunder
  • Acknowledge the support of everyone who contributes to the Crowdfunder and provide information after Christmas of the impact donations have.
