Help get Sealy MacWheely back up and running after maternity leave and you could win a Kromski Sonata Spinning Wheel!

With the blessing of the wonderful team at Kromski and Sons I am delighted to offer you the chance to win a spinning wheel!
And if that weren't enough to excite you I also have a jumper quantity of hand dyed yarn up for grabs as well as a 250g Art Phatt™ as second and third prizes!
The prize draw is running until midnight on Saturday 7th March with prizes dispatched once shipping details of the winners have been confirmed.

The beautiful Kromski Sonata is one my all-time favourite wheels and this is your opportunity to own your own in a rich mahogany finish. The perfect travel companion, the Sonata is foldable and comes complete with wearable travel bag and built-in Lazy Kate and is great for new and experienced spinners alike.
The wheel arrives brand new in box and is almost ready to use with just a couple of instructions to follow to have her up and ready to spin.
Please note that this wheel comes with a traditional flyer but the magnetic flyer of the Encore can be purchased separately if required at the winners expense.

A whopping 500g of hand dyed yarn can be yours in the colourway and yarn base of your choice. Second prize winner will be able to choose between a 4ply/fingering or DK/Double Knitting weight yarn on my favourite British Bluefaced Leicester - perfect for practically all knitting and crochet projects.
This yarn will be dyed to order in the colourway of your choice from the following Collections:
Nursery Rhymes ~ Button House ~ Hitchhikers ~ Good Place ~ Firefly ~ Smash the Patriarchy ~ Floral
Please note that as this prize is dyed to order the dispatch time will be a couple of weeks after the prize draw ends.

The Art Phatt™ is the ultimate squishy fibre preparation for spinning or felting with a whopping 250g of floof in one beautiful giant batt. Like the yarn above, this prize will be made to order with a mix of hand- and mill-dyed fibres in up to six colours of your choice. With the added option of sparkle and silks this is your opportunity to have a custom designed one of a kind Phatt carded specially for you.
Hi, my name is Katie and I am the face behind Sealy MacWheely. I have been hand spinning yarn for over fifteen years now and almost a decade ago I set up my business selling hand dyed yarn and fibre and teaching fibre crafts. In October 2018 I opened my first yarn shop which is my sole source of income and I work both for myself and by myself (with a bit of help from a couple of good friends who keep me in check!).
When I fell pregnant unexpectedly in the autumn of 2024 I thought I had done everything by the book to ensure that my maternity pay and leave was covered but after months of jumping through hoops and being passed from pillar to post, lost in a system which doesn't understand my relatively niche employment, I ended up receiving less than I should have been entitled to but locked into the full 39 weeks of maternity leave.
Unlike most other expecting mums I couldn't put my work on hold as I had overheads to pay in order to keep my shop and dye studio premises, but was only allowed the same ten Keeping In Touch (KIT) days as regularly employed people. As a business model which relies heavily on human connection through a physical shop where customers can view and touch my very tactile products as well as yarn shows, one-to-one tuition, workshops, and weekly Knit'n'Natter sessions, being limited to online sales only for 9 months has had a major detrimental effect on my sales and income.
I am proud and relieved to say that my business survived my mat leave, albeit by the skin of my teeth, and that is very much thanks to the voluntary support of my partner and sister who kept the parcels going out when I was legally unable to be in my own shop.
I have returned to work this week and along with the worries that come with juggling childcare with self employment I have the added concern of how to restock my shop with a near-empty bank account. Having run successful Kickstarter campaigns in the past I did contemplate going down that route again but the time and energy required to fulfil rewards, whilst juggling an eight month old baby, seemed impractical and liable to cause delays and mistakes.
A late night brainwave led me to a prize draw: the opportunity to win a spinning wheel worth over £700 for as little as a tenner whilst also helping a small business get back up on their feet - a win/win situation, no?

Online entries are available with a variety of options for you to choose from:
Donate £10 for one entry, £20 for three entries, £50 for ten entries or £100 for 25 entries.
You can also enter this draw for free by sending your full name, contact details, and the name of the prize draw on a postcard or in an envelope with correctly paid postage to the following address:
Sealy MacWheely, 11 Donaldson Crescent, Kirkintilloch, G66 1XF
Please see terms and conditions for full details.
Entrants must be 18+ and UK residents only.
The draw closes at midnight on 7th March 2026 and winners will be announced on the Sealy MacWheely Instagram and Facebook pages within three days of this date.
Prizes will be dispatched via Royal Mail 1st Class or Parcelforce 24h and tracking details will be provided to the winners via email.
