We want to raise enough money to bring the Speech Bubbles programme to at least four primary schools in Cornwall in the next 18 months.
Helping children find their voice at school
In every classroom, there are children who are bright, curious and full of imagination - but find it hard to put their thoughts into words and to join in with confidence.
That struggle can affect how they learn, how they build friendships, and how they see themselves at school.
Speech Bubbles is here to change that – using drama, play and storytelling to support children who need a little extra help to find their voice.
What is Speech Bubbles?
Speech Bubbles is an important programme for children aged 5–7, led by Hall for Cornwall through our flagship Get Creative programme.
Hall for Cornwall believes in the power of creativity to shape lives. Through their Get Creative programme, the organisation works with 11,000 children and young people every year across Cornwall, supporting them to grow in confidence, express themselves and find where they belong.
Speech Bubbles builds on that experience.

Created by expert drama practitioners working alongside speech and language specialists, Speech Bubbles offers a safe space where children can practise using their voices through play and creativity - without fear of getting things “wrong”.
Why this matters
According to The Communication Trust, up to half of children may be starting school with delayed communication skills, and nearly 1.9 million children across the UK are struggling with speech and language.
In Cornwall, the picture is particularly challenging.
Only a small number of children meet the threshold for specialist Speech and Language Therapy (SALT), and waiting lists can exceed 12 months.
Speech Bubbles exists to meet that need early.
Supporting our teachers
Teachers see this every day. They are already stepping in, often using valuable classroom time to support speech, listening and play skills alongside core learning. But teachers are stretched, and many know that early intervention could make a lasting difference.
Speech Bubbles is designed to work alongside schools — supporting teachers as well as children, and offering help before communication difficulties become barriers to learning.
Why drama — and why Hall for Cornwall?
Drama is one of the most effective ways to develop communication, confidence and emotional literacy in young children. Through imagination and play, children can experiment with language safely, express feelings they don’t yet have words for, and learn how to listen, respond and connect with others.
This approach sits at the heart of Hall for Cornwall’s Get Creative programme, which places quality, accessibility and inclusion at its core and works with over 11,000 children and young people each year.
Here at Hall for Cornwall, we see the long-term impact of this work first-hand: young people finding their tribe, building resilience and growing into confident, expressive individuals.
Speech Bubbles brings our expertise into those early years at school, helping at a time when it can have the greatest impact.
How your support will help
Your donation allows Hall for Cornwall to deliver Speech Bubbles to children who need it most across Cornwall. We aim to raise £15,000 in 2026–27, enabling us to deliver the programme in at least four schools, particularly in economically deprived areas.
Every contribution helps create a space where children feel safe to speak, express themselves and belong.
Together, we’ll be enhancing children’s speech and language skills in Cornwall to build confidence and unlock potential through the power of drama.
