Parents of neurodivergent children deserve more support, information and guidance & should be able to access bespoke & free SEND workshops
PlayWise Learning CIC is launching a new training cabin in order to provide in-person, bespoke, practical training workshops for parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND). Training delivered in small groups on topics that are grounded in lived SEND experiences and offer practical tips and strategies help to build relationships, strengthen understanding of their child's needs, improves mental health and well-being, reduces isolation and increases outcomes for families. Our dream is that parents of SEND children in Sutton are able to access free training on the things that impact family life the most; Managing difficult behaviours, understanding the sensory world their children live in, Supporting challenges with communication and interaction, improving play skills and providing practical tips and strategies on toilet training and sleep.
We would like to be able to provide free workshops for parents/carers to access at different times of the days to work around childcare challenges school pick ups and drop-offs etc.
We plan to offer 12 X 3 hour workshops per year initially to up to 15 families per session (total of 180 parents). The workshops will provide the theory and practical Strategies as well as hand outs for each workshop, a certificate at the end of each workshop and refreshments.
