You may not have heard of us, but as one of the oldest and largest rescue teams in the UK we have already touched your lives. Some of our team members were main players in rescuing the 12 boys trapped in a cave in Thailand. We have assisted in mining disasters and searches for missing persons throughout South and Mid Wales. We have acted quickly when animals have become trapped underground, and when cavers and mine explorers needed rescuing. We are ready when you need us and have been since the team was formed in 1946. But now we need your help.

As part of our 2020 modernisation program we are upgrading our radios and digital control equipment, as well as replacing our stretchers. However, our expected funding has been diverted to COVID-19 causes, leaving us with a shortfall in our finances. We are looking to raise £15,000 to support this modernisation project. 

Our existing stretchers are currently over 10 years old and need replacing. The new stretchers have been developed specifically to overcome challenging underground obstacles and immobilise a casualty. Digital radios with new technology and enhanced  performance allow for improved communications during a rescue, including integration with other search and rescue teams as well as with emergency services. Digital incident control makes our base of operations mobile, allowing key decisions to be made more efficiently and close to an incident, rather than at a remote site.
