If we get more money than we are initially raising we can extend the warm space opening to all day with extra staffing and volunteers to offer activities and support.
We are South Brent & District Caring, we are a small team of staff and lots of volunteers who support people in our village and surrounding areas who are isolated, unwell or disabled, struggling with finances, caring for someone, or have mental health issues. We offer groups & bespoke support, help with practical things like shopping, managing household paperwork, transport to appointments and can offer befriending support and much much more. We help people navigate the digital world, and can help to complete forms and find the right services to help if we cannot. We know our community will be impacted by the cost of living increase and we wanted to help and do a bit more this winter.
As we work in a rural area many people are isolated by ill health or finances from getting about or the support they need. We offer a lifeline to fill that gap or bridge it to help find the most appropriate support. We help keep people connected to others and their community, get to health appointments or visit unwell relatives, ensure they have appropriate care and support from the right services and link people to activities (or provide activities) that aim to enrich their lives.
We have set up South Brent Warm Space to offer people a place to go in the warm that is free and offers warm clothing, a warm welcome, fun and companionship. We need funds to help pay for the staffing to support volunteers who will be running the space, and so we can provide engaging activities for all the community. Also fund to help promote the space to the people in our community who are harder to reach so they know where they can come.
We will spend the money raised on activities we can run in the warm space and for staffing those sessions, and on printing marketing materials and delivering those materials to local people to promote the space and what is going on there. We will also spend money raised on staff time to manage the space, and train and support volunteers to look after the space.
