Aim

Sound Plotting is an all-day event at Stanmer Organics - you can help us make it happen and bag some tickets to future events in doing so!

Why we need to run this crowdfunder

We are currently putting together a second Sound Plotting all-day event and we’d like to ask if you can help to make it happen by contributing a small (or large) donation to cover costs.

Though we have secured no outside funding we have decided to carry on with the event on a smaller scale in much the same vein as the debut event in 2022, which was well-attended and met with lots of positive feedback. Lost Property funded it out of our own kitty last time to get it up and running as a regular annual event, but this year it needs to be self-sustaining.  We want to keep it as a free event to make it accessible to everyone regardless of income, and this crowdfunder is a way of supporting it if you are able to.

We have secured some nice perks for you, including discounted tickets for future events promoted by The Rose Hill and Lost Property!

What is Sound Plotting?

Sound Plotting is a day of sound art installations, activities and music.  It is based in the beautiful plots of Stanmer Organics, an area in Stanmer Park, Brighton. We take a very site-specific approach to developing installations for the day, making connections with Stanmer Organics plot-holders to create sound art pieces that interact with the great spaces they have developed there.

The Ecomusicology Project

The event is also a celebration and a way of welcoming the public to The Ecomusicology Project - a new initiative that is based on our plot at Stanmer Organics, run by a new group made up of members of Lost Property Arts Collective, the Rose Hill, The Coach House, Brighton and Hove Music For Connection and Sound Art Brighton.

This is a long term endeavour to create a unique sound art park and a hub for experimental music, workshops, activities, and installations set in the most beautiful natural environment. The Sound Plotting event is an ideal opportunity to come and explore the plot and we’re very open to hearing ideas or proposals from anyone who attends.

How we will use the money

The money will cover the basics of putting on an outdoor event such as this: van hire and fuel, event insurance, TENs licensing, artist and crew travel, staging and installation materials, PA hire, Earthship hire, signage, programme printing, promo and marketing.

This project successfully funded on 4th July 2023
