Help us make The Showbar's acoustics better for people to enjoy the many music events the bar hosts and for the artists that perfom there.
The Mowlem's Theatre, Studio and Showbar offers our community and visitors a wonderful arts hub for all to enjoy.
In recent years the choice and diversity of entertainment on offer has expanded greatly. The Showbar now hosts many free, live music events and aftershow parties as well as supporting and providing a stage for numerous festival acts during the year. Swanage Record Club meet there every month and there are monthly Quiz nights and other local events hosted on a regular basis.

The large glass windows allow visitors to the Showbar unparalleled views right across Swanage Bay from Ballard Down to Peveril Point and are a popular feature and backdrop.
'SOUND INVESTMENT' is a community led fundraising initiative to make the Showbar even better.
The generous glass windows giving the Showbar those wonderful views are not a friend when it comes to getting the optimal listening experience.
Glass isn't good for acoustics in places like the Showbar. It reflects sound, this lack of absorbtion leads to bounce, echo and poor acoustics. This especially impacts people with impaired hearing and those who use hearing aids.

With your help we want to make this better for the many people who enjoy the events and for the artists that perfom.
We have been working on a project that will install light weight acoustic sound absorbing panels on the ceiling the length of the Showbar, greatly increasing sound absorbtion and providing a much improved experience when listening to a band, having a dance at an aftershow party or just relaxing in the bar with others.
We would really appreciate your support in raising the funds needed to provide the acoustic improvements to the Showbar.
This fundraiser is organised by members of the community in aid of The Mowlem - we are grateful to the Mowlem for allowing us to use its Crowdfunder account to make fundraising easier.
