Aim

Soul Cake Theatre needs funding to help us create our next fabulously dark comedy drama The Street Where You Live - inspired by Inside No 9.

Who we are

Hello! We are Soul Cake Theatre, a small but perfectly formed group of theatre practitioners based in Bristol. We've been entertaining audiences in the South West for the last ten years.

What we do

We love doing accessible, entertaining, edgy, fringe-style theatre. We're small on budget and big on ideas. And we love creating theatre for people who don't like (or who think they don't like) theatre!

What we want

We're looking for funding for our latest project 'The Street Where You Live' which will be performed by a four-strong ensemble at the Alma Tavern Theatre in Bristol on 20-24 October 2026.

'The Street...' is an anthology of six short plays very much in the style of the brilliantly unsettling 'horror comedy' that is Inside No 9. 

What we'll do with it

The funds we raise will go exclusively to help pay for the theatre hire for five nights and one day rehearsal (our biggest cost) and for a simple but evocative set design. There may be some marketing costs but we aim to keep these to a minimum. 

Soul Cake Theatre's previous shows include the sell-out 'dark comedy with a timey wimey twist', Loop, performed at the Alma Tavern Theatre in April 2025.
