In just over 2 weeks time myself and my bestie Sam are taking on a monumental challenge - we're walking the full length of the West Highland Way (96 miles in 10 days). This runs from Milngavie, just outside Glasgow, to Fort William in the Highlands. This is a huge thing for both of us, both physically and mentally, but we're both determined to do it. We're being realistic about our limits. Sam suffers from fribromyalgia where attacks can flare up at anytime, and I suffered with PTSD and BPD, where triggers can happen at anytime so we will take this at a leisurely pace. It will be hard for both of us, but one thing we both are is stubborn so if anything will see us through this it's that! We have both decided that if we were going to do this, it would be great to do some good too. So i'll be walking it to raise money for a few small locally-based independent charities. I couldn't pick between 4 so I will divide the target between the 4 charities below.
Survive - Registered charity 1069129
(A local charity that offers support to survivers of abuse, they are currently supporting me through my own recovery.)
Dementia Forward - Registered Charity 1148225
(A local charity that offers support to people and their families who are living with dementia.)
Snappy - Registered Charity Number 702190
(A small local charity dedicated to maximising the personal development of children and young people with wide ranging disabilities.)
The MNDA - Registered Charity 294354
(A charity focused on improving access to care, research and support for those living with Motor Neurone Disease.)
Times are tough but if you feel you can give anything then that would be wonderful. Thanks everyone and wish us luck!
