Help SAW to deliver creative projects in Shieldfield.
Shieldfield Art Works has commissioned a collection of songs and music videos created by the Shieldfield community.
People who live, work, and play in Shieldfield, as well as children from the local school, worked with songwriters Gareth Davies-Jones and Bronwen Davies-Jones to explore their experience of life in Shieldfield through song, forging observations and responses into lyrics, songs and creative soundscapes. Artist Lily Mae Kroese then joined the project to guide participants in creating animations to play alongside the songs - the result is a collection of powerful songs with a stunning visual backdrop.
Songs of Solidarity and Strength opens at Shieldfield Art Works with a preview on Friday 14th November, 6pm – 8pm, which will include live performances of the songs! The exhibition then runs from 18th November - 11th December, open Tuesday - Thursday 11am – 4pm. There will also be additional evening openings (until 7pm) on Tuesday 18th November and Tuesday 2nd December.
It costs around £150,000 a year to run SAW, with most of our income coming from one-off grants. Our long-term financial future isn't certain - but our commitment to creativity and community is.
By donating to this Crowdfunder, you will be directly supporting our work, and getting your own CD of the Songs of Solidarity and Strength EP, along with art prints featuring stills of the animations. All proceeds go to continuing creative projects at Shieldfield Art Works.
