Aim
This Somerset team of volunteers raises funds to send medical supplies and humanitarian aid direct to where it is needed in Ukraine
The war in Ukraine has had a devastating impact on Ukraine's health system and infrastructure.
Destroyed healthcare facilities and disrupted chains of medical supplies pose a grave threat to civilians and military personnel alike. Many healthcare workers are displaced or unable to work themselves. Hospitals have had to be repurposed and staff retrained to manage major trauma and battlefield injuries.
There are shortages of basic medications, first aid items and medical equipment required for trauma care / battle field injuries.
Russian has continued to target Ukrainian power stations - many Ukrainians are now facing a desperate winter, in subzero temperatures with no heating or cooking facilities. Troops will struggle to stay warm defending frontlines.
Somerset Aid for Ukraine has been at the forefront of efforts to assist both military personnel and civilians trying to survive in Ukraine. They have been successfully sending humanitarian aid direct to where it is needed using local contacts.

Somerset Aid for Ukraine regularly reviews and updates what is required as requested by those on the frontline. This ensures best use of funding, resources and volunteer time along the supply chain between Somerset and Ukraine.
Medical supplies, generators and power packs are high on the priority list currently.

Medical items come and go from stock very quickly so at present we are building up a list of essential trauma items that are expected to come back in stock from January 2023. All monies received on account will be used to purchase medical supplies which can be delivered direct to us for onwards transport to Ukraine.
