Hello friends! We’re God’s Teeth and the Interstellar Tropics, individually known as James Parsons, Dolly Rae Starcore and Karl M V Waugh. We’ve made a new record! We’re really excited about it, and so are the Rose Hill, who have chosen to put it out on their new label. We really hope you will feel the same way. It’s called Solstice, because that’s when we recorded it.

What’s special about this one?

We feel we’ve really found our place on this album, and have been overjoyed to have the opportunity to create a recording with so much spacious depth in the sound. It was recorded in just one night, the longest of the year, and we’ve put a great deal of work into it since then - to say we’ve been on quite a journey with it over lockdown would be an understatement. We’re chuffed to bits with the result and can’t wait to share it with you!

Solstice was conceived between God’s Teeth and the Interstellar Tropics and sound engineer Tim Wilton, and recorded on last year’s Winter Solstice at the Old Market Theatre in Brighton. Embracing the latent fertility of the darkest night, Solstice takes the listener on a playful journey through an expansive vista of flowing, shifting perception.

We feel we’ve made a really beautiful album, one worthy of being on gorgeous vinyl that you’ll be thrilled to own or give as a gift - but we need your support now to make this happen!

Who are God’s Teeth and the Interstellar Tropics?

The universe brought God’s Teeth together in 2016, when an unexpected, last minute evening playing together morphed into something that very obviously had better continue, so it did. Karl and Dolly had met on stage in the A Band’s full chaos ‘Amorphous Freak Franchise’ six years previous and first encountered James when playing and collaborating with his band, the legendary Bolide. Since then the cosmic improvisers have taken audiences on many adventures, playing gigs supporting the likes of Henge, GNOD, and MAKOTO/PIKA DUO (Acid Mothers Temple / Afrirampo), and self-released two albums: Into the Mouth of a Deity (2017) and GNASH (2018).

Many of their most joyful moments on stage have been at The Rose Hill, making this album’s release on Rose Hill Records all the sweeter.

Solstice was recorded on the Winter Solstice 2019 at The Old Market theatre, Brighton by Tim Wilton. We are eternally grateful for his skill and efforts.
