In Soldering On, a craftsman with Parkinson's undertakes a final legacy project, embarking on a poignant journey that explores familial love, resilience, and the power of perseverance in the face of adversity.
Soldering On is not just a film about Parkinson's; it is a story about relationships, love, and resilience. At its heart, the film explores the deep bonds between Peter, his wife Melissa, and their daughter Nicole. It is through these relationships that we witness the strength, support, and unwavering love that help Peter navigate his journey.
Our collaboration with Parkinson's UK has been instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of the script. Their expertise and insights have helped us to depict the nuances of the disease realistically, from the physical symptoms to the emotional and psychological impacts. This partnership underscores our commitment to portraying Parkinson's disease with the respect and sensitivity it deserves.

Peter, a talented craftsman, who has been living with Parkinson's for 15 years, finds himself being affected by the disease more and more as time moves on.
After witnessing his own late father, Henry, with the same disease and seeing the affect it had on his mother, Peter desires to avoid becoming a burden for his family and to instead leave a meaningful legacy behind for his daughter Nicole.
He finds solace in his friendship with fellow patient Miles and with the unwavering support of his wife, Melissa, Peter embarks on a final heartfelt project.
As he navigates the physical and emotional toll of his condition, the family workshop where he intends to craft a ring for Nicole becomes a space of connection and resilience.
When he presents the completed ring to Nicole, Peter experiences a moment of triumph but is equally haunted by the fear that his legacy may be defined by his illness. This powerful story explores love, family, and the struggle to create a lasting impact amidst adversity.
This short film offers a timely and vital narrative that goes beyond the surface of living with Parkinson’s disease. With Parkinson’s currently affecting around 153,000 people in the UK, and diagnoses continuing to rise, this film has the potential to not only raise awareness but to deeply connect with audiences on an emotional level.
This film will vividly portray Peter's internal journey and the evolution of his relationships through a carefully crafted visual and auditory experience. We will use a rich palette of warm, nostalgic visuals to evoke Peter’s past, contrasting them with colder, more detached shots that reflect his current struggles with Parkinson’s disease. The cinematography will include intimate camera movements during key interactions, especially with his wife, Melissa, and friend, Miles, to capture moments of emotional connection and resolution. Shots in the workshed will immerse viewers in the warmth of Peter's cherished memories, creating an intimate atmosphere.
Sound will be a vital component of the film, featuring a poignant score that will highlight both the bittersweet and uplifting moments throughout Peter's journey. In crucial scenes where he experiences physical immobility, the ambient noise will gradually fade, pulling the audience into Peter's internal world and underscoring his feelings of isolation.
The pacing will be deliberate, employing longer takes and smooth transitions to mirror the slower rhythm of Peter’s daily life, while flashbacks to his time with his father will enrich the narrative with themes of legacy and connection.
Ultimately, the editing will weave together these elements, using silence and close-ups to deepen emotional impact and foster a profound sense of empathy for Peter’s experience.
