To install Solar Panels on the roof of the Itchen Abbas and Avington Village Hall
We have a project to put solar panels on the south west facing roof of the Hall. This is to contribute towards green electricity from a climate change aspect and to reduce our £4,000 per year energy cost. The proposal is to put at least 28 panels on the roof and because we use most of our electricity out of sunlight hours this will feed battery storage The capital cost of this work is about £20,000, we are In the process of applying for grants, some which have to be based on matched funding from you, the community, from where we are looking for donations of £8,000.
Please would you consider contributing to the cost of the solar panels, this may be because you support climate change and can’t put panels on your own house or you just want to support a local community facility. If you are a taxpayer and because we are a charity we can reclaim gift aid on your donation.
After the Solar Panels we plan to reduce our carbon footprint further and replace our 12 year old gas boilers with either air or ground source heating at a budgeted cost of £35,000, this will use the electricity from the solar panels. Any surplus from the solar project will go towards these works
Winchester Greener Future Fund has provided £4,000 of match funding
