Help us to turn our club into a mini power station! This will reduce our carbon footprint and save on our electricity bills.
Who we are
Martin Club is a social club that is open to all. It is a much valued facility in our village, providing a large hall for community events such as film nights, quizzes, and bingo, and is also used regularly for yoga and pilates sessions, table tennis, darts, and snooker.
What we want to do
Our club needs a new roof and work has now started. We want to add a 10kW array of solar panels once the roofing is complete.
The solar panels will generate electricity and we plan to install a battery so that we can use our free electricity in the evenings. We will also be paid for any surplus electricity that we feed back into the grid.
Reduce costs and carbon footprint
Our electricity bills are a major cost and installing solar panels will reduce the bills by almost a third. By using our own renewable energy, we will also reduce our carbon footprint (by 3.6 tonnes of CO2 per year!) and help towards our goal of being net zero carbon.
More money for the things we need!
The solar panels should save us almost £1,500 every year on our electricity - that is money that we can use to pay for other things we need, like maintaining the building, and smartening up the interior with nice new furnishings. Any extra money that we raise over and above the cost of the panels will go towards the new furnishings too.

This is what the club could look like!
