To make the village hall self sufficient in energy reducing the carbon footprint and helping reduce the environmetal impact of the hall.
We want to add 20 solar panels and a 10.36kwh battery to the village hall will enhance energy resiliance against severe weather induced power outages and protect the village hall from increasing energy dependance from volatile fossil fuel grids and shields us from rising electricity costs reducing our carbon footprint. We have already installed an airsource heat pump in preparation for the solar panel project. We expect to produce 6675kwh per year and sell approximately 50% back to the grid raising around £400 for the hall and providing 3340kwh of clean energy to the grid.
Stored solar power reduces our demand on the grid during peak hours reducing the need for dirtier inefficient power plants to run thereby improving the environment around us.
A solar and battery system will save significant amounts of co2 over its 25 year lifespan helping reduce the impact on the climate. Over the 25 years we expect to produce 166,874kwh in clean energy.
The smart energy system will allow us to optimise when to store, use and sell energy back to the grid ensuring no energy goes to waste.
Moving the hall toward a more self sufficient entitiy helps combat the root causes of climate change while adapting to its impacts.
Ingham Village Hall provides a central facility for the small rural community of approximatley 400 people in Ingham. The hall is run by a small group of 6 trustees who give their time voluntarily to run, maintain and raise funds for the hall. The hall has been providing valuable services to the local community for over 40 years.
The hall provides a socialising space for events, exercise classes, talks, arts, wildlife and sociable senior groups to name a few. It has a large green space for villagers to walk their dogs and play games.
The local marine corp have used the field for camping and drills for training and the trustees run fun events such as quizzes, beetle drives, jumble sales, book sales, astronomy talks, etc and the field is also used for the famous Ingham Church annual fete and dog show.
In November 2025 the heating was condemed and we had to urgently replace the heating system. We replaced this with an air source heat pump system (using our own funding) with a view to adding solar panels and battery storage at a later date. This will reduce our carbon footprint and reduce the utility bills for the hall and possibly become self sustaining while generating a passive income from selling electricity produced from the 20 panels to be installed on our South facing roof back to the grid.
We are applying for grants and appealing to local business for support whilst running craft fairs, jumble sales and talks to raise funds ourselves.
We want to raise the funds to buy the 20 solar panels and the battery to store the electricity for village hall use.
With more extreme weather events that threaten the grid infrastructure this setup provides a reliable decentralised power supply.
Please help us achieve this by donating to our project and help provide a better future for this important village resource, while at the same time reducing our carbon footprint.
