• Who are we?

Canton RFC is more than just a rugby club — it’s a vital community hub in the heart of Cardiff. Our clubhouse is a safe and welcoming space used by a wide range of local groups, from junior rugby, football and baseball teams, to an after-school club, a choir, and adults with learning difficulties who rely on us as a daily haven. 

Why are we?

But with electricity bills now exceeding £10,000 a year, the rising costs are putting this lifeline at risk. Installing solar panels will not only reduce our energy bills, but ensure the clubhouse remains open, accessible and sustainable for everyone who depends on it — now and for generations to come.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised through this crowdfunder will go directly towards installing solar panels and battery storage at the clubhouse. This investment will significantly reduce our electricity bills by harnessing clean, renewable energy and storing it for use when we need it most. By cutting our annual energy costs, we can reinvest more into supporting the wide range of community groups that rely on us — keeping the doors open, the lights on, and the clubhouse thriving as a space for sport, support, and social connection.

Our facilities are a shared space for a wide range of local groups and activities — from football and baseball teams for both males and females, to skittle teams, after-school clubs, and community choirs. We also provide a safe, welcoming base for adults with learning difficulties, offering routine, social interaction and support. The clubhouse isn’t just about sport — it’s a social lifeline, a place where friendships are formed, confidence is built, and community spirit thrives.
