The event is organised and run by many volunteers from the farming and ploughing community living anywhere between the north of Scotland and the most southern points of Cornwall or Kent.  We rely on donations and sponsorship to put on this event which showcases the countryside and farming heritage - very briefly it includes tractor ploughing, many types of vintage tractors, horse ploughing, steam engines, trade stands, crafts vintage displays and demonstrations of the newest agricultural machinery.  Together these show the changes of our agricultural heritage over hundreds of years.

With farming methods continually changing, the plough remains a constant - it is eco friendly as good ploughing prepares the ground for the next crop helping to keep the weeds down and can mean using less chemicals on the land.  The Society of Ploughmen also hold Ploughing Seminars to encourage and improve the skills of our ploughmen and women.
