What is this about?
We're planning to host an exhibition in the centre of London, showcasing the best contemporary cat art from our artists around the UK and internationally. It's going to be amazing - and we really hope you'll want to be involved!
Who are we?
We are the Society Of Feline Artists. We were founded in 1994 to promote excellence in and an appreciation of feline art in all its forms. We have had an annual exhibition of our members work at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery in London for 22 years, featuring over 50 artists, some of whom exhibit internationally and showing more than 300 paintings in a range of media, making it the largest exhibition of cat art in the country.
So why are we raising funds for a London show?
In 2018 the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery is closing, the owners have decided to take their well-earned retirement. So the society needs to find new ways to bring the best in feline art to the public.
What are we doing?
Hosting Our Own S.O.F.A. London Show in 2019.
We’ll hire a gallery in an excellent Central London location and host the annual show. Several of our members have experience with hosting exhibitions so we have the skills to hang the show ourselves, staff the gallery during the run, sort out advertising, marketing and the invitations.
The Private View
Of course there’ll be a private view to mark the opening of the show, opened by our patron David Grant MBE B Vet. Med. F.R.C.V.S and with plenty of time to see the work and socialise with the artists.
We really hope you'll want to come along!
Regional Shows
Although we are raising funds for the London show first, we’re are also planning regional shows around the UK in the future. Any extra funds raised will go towards new shows in 2019. We are always on the lookout for venues who are interested in hosting a S.O.F.A show.
How The Money Will Be Spent?
The money will be spent on hiring a Central London gallery in a great location, hosting our private view and advertising the show.
If we don’t raise enough funds in time to put on a show in 2019, or if we exceed our target, the funds will go towards the 2020 exhibition as well as regional exhibitions.
The Rewards
