I've been asked to create a wildlife mural this spring on the car park cabin at Smallbrook Nature Reserve, Warminster

by Tanya Hinton (Warminster's bird lady!) in Warminster, England, United Kingdom

The trustees at Smallbrook nature reserve Warminster would like to give their rather tired- looking cabin in the car park (below) a new lease of life! So they have asked me to come up with a design for a mural, which I'm planning to undertake later this spring.

MY TOWN PAINTINGS

As you may know, over the past few years, I have been painting wildlife street art around Warminster town centre, on boarded up premises, on gates, fences, and on shop frontages (requested by the owners!).

3 years ago I spent a month having great fun painting the 50- bird mural in 3 Horseshoes Walk and meeting lots of Warminster's residents as they passed by, who were overwhelmingly supportive.

One of my latest pieces is a pair of giraffes on a boarded up window in Weymouth Street. It was quite a long space, so had to be something very tall!

THE SMALLBROOK CABIN MURAL

The subject matter for my proposed painting at Smallbrook are closer to home: some of the creatures and wildlife that you might spot on a walk around the nature reserve. The mural would cover three sides of the cabin, and there will be an identification key to all the animals depicted.

The mock- up below gives you a rough idea of how the transformation will look. I want it to have a strong impact, so have made many of the creatures larger than life! And, who knows, I may be tempted to add a few more!

As with most of my street art, it will be painted in acrylic paint, with final touches in oil. The finished painting will be coated with anti- graffiti varnish.

I’m VERY excited about this, BUT would need to take around a month away from my studio work to paint it! SO..... I will have to raise funds to cover time, materials and to keep the wolf from the door!

If you TOO are excited about this idea, I would be HUGELY grateful for any donations, however modest, that you can make to this Crowdfunding Appeal.

I will keep you posted on progress. And once it's finished, every time you visit Smallbrook, you will know that you were a part of this project!

Many thanks in advance!
