Aim

The aim of this project is to help me take my Kefir grains business from a kitchen hobby to a properly run small operation.

It started small — a jar on my kitchen counter and a curiosity about what Kefir could do. I'd read about the potential wellbeing benefits of live Kefir grains, and once I understood them properly, I wanted to make them genuinely accessible — not a premium lifestyle product, but something affordable that anyone could try for themselves. That's why I've always priced my grains as the cheapest available locally, because I believe good gut health shouldn't come with a high price tag.

Where it's got to

What began as a hobby has quietly become a real little business. I've now sold over 150 packs locally, entirely from my own kitchen, with a growing base of repeat buyers who come back order after order. The reviews are what keep me going — people telling me they've successfully made their first batch of Kefir at home, or that they've been searching for an affordable source and finally found one.

Why I need your help

Here's where I've hit a wall. Working alone from my own kitchen, I'm limited in how much I can ferment, package, and despatch at once — and demand has started outpacing what I can physically produce. It's a good problem to have, but I can't grow further without some support.

What your money will fund

This campaign is about removing that ceiling. Here's exactly where the funding goes:

  • Fermentation setup — to safely scale production beyond kitchen-batch sizes
  • Jars & packaging — proper, food-safe materials that keep the grains healthy in transit
  • Shipping supplies — so every order arrives fresh, well protected, and on time
  • Marketing — to reach more people who'd benefit from affordable Kefir grains
  • A small unit or kitchen space — moving production out of my home kitchen into a space built for it.

What you get in return

I've put together reward tiers so you can back this at whatever level feels right — from a simple starter pack of the same grains that have sold 150+ times over, to bundles for the regulars, right up to a founding backer tier for anyone who wants to be part of this from the start. [See the reward tiers below.]

Where this is heading

With the right setup, I'll be able to keep pace with demand, introduce new flavours and formats, despatch every order faster, and eventually take this to a proper small business built around something that started as a jar on my counter.

Thank you for reading this far — it genuinely means a lot. If you can back this campaign, or simply share it with someone who might be interested, you'll be helping turn a kitchen hobby into something built to last.

Let's ferment something bigger, together.
