Small Business Projects - WOMEN'S DAY 2025

Aim
For International Women's Day 2025, we are aiming to help 15 women start or improve their small businesses to help get them out of poverty.
At the end of February we were approached by the governmental office in Jaffna asking us to assist them in helping 15 poverty-stricken women with their small businesses. This funding will be used to set up/help 15 small businesses for women who are dispersed throughout the Jaffna region. Below is the list of women (names have been removed for privacy), and what they require/need to help them: 
This project is due to run from March 15th in Jaffna in conjunction with the celebration of World Women's Day (March 8th). The purpose of this project is to help set up small businesses to help women who have recently been going through court cases and are in poverty and without a male household head to become independent and self-sufficient. The ultimate aim is to help them get out of the poverty they are currently experiencing.
These women and their situations have been selected by the courts due to their need and family situations, which has then been passed onto the government office, who then selected 15 women for us in conjunction with our sister charity, Paalam Project, to support. These women have been selected according to a points system and are therefore some of the most needy people requiring small business support.
There are many other women who also qualify, but their names and needs have been given to various other NGOs (charities) working in the same area. Each NGO is asked to help 15 small businesses - so we jumped at the chance to assist such an important and worthwhile cause.
To complete this project , we are aiming to raise £4,100 which is approximately 1,500,000 Sri Lankan Rupees.
