Sleeper Hit - short film

Aim

Sleeper Hit is a sci-fi thriller short film made by a group of enthusiastic Falmouth University students.

What is it about?

Tom, an overworked programmer, tries Nocturny, a device that lets him do chores and work while sleeping. This convenient lifestyle is unfortunately short-lived as one morning he wakes up realising he has been asleep for weeks - and finds out what he has done during his long nap.

Who are we? 

We are a group of Falmouth University film students with one goal in mind -- make the best short film that we can. To be more exact, let us introduce ourselves: 

Sophie Schwajda - Producer
Hi! I'm the producer and I am really excited to work on this awesome project. As a producer, I try to make sure that everything runs smoothly. I love sci-fis and any story that's thought-provoking. I have previously worked on Netflix originals, but this is my first time producing a short film. I can't wait for you to see it! :)

Cian Kavanagh - Director

Hello!! I'm the director on Sleeper Hit and I'm so excited to be working with the cast and crew in telling this amazing story on what is my first big opportunity as a director. I'm obsessed with the dystopian elements on this film and I can't wait to make it come to life!!

Roope Kontio - Writer/Cinematographer/Editor

Greetings! I'm the writer, cinematographer and editor of Sleeper Hit. I came up with this idea a couple years ago and I'm looking forward to seeing it come to fruition. As a foreign exchange student, I'm excited to work with my new British pals.

Cat Cusack - Production Designer

Hi, I'm the production designer on Sleeper Hit, so I get to design the NOCTURNY app, all the props and costumes too. I love working on the sci-fi technology, as I'm a big fan of Black Mirror. I used to design theatre plays but now I'm designing several university short films with my peers.

Amy Butcher - Sound Designer

Hello!! I'm the soundy for Sleeper Hit! I'm very excited to be working on this short film!! I love sci-fi adventures and thrilling storylines that keep you engaged. Very excited to see the final outcome :))

Oliver Richards - Sound Assistant 

Howdy! I'm the Sound Assistant for Sleeper Hit! I'm excited to work on this short film and to work under the wonderful Head of Sound Amy Butcher. Ever since my second year of Uni I have had a very sound focus mind in films, and look forward to contributing and helping in any way I can.

How will your donation help?

Your donation will go towards acquiring props and set dressing, catering for the crew and talent, renting out locations, and submitting the film to festivals. We are focusing primarily on the set design and props, as we aim to create an authentic feeling for the world Tom is a part of. We are also dedicated to having a healthy on-set environment, so we are ensuring the catering will be adequate for everybody. Additionally, our actors are based in Falmouth, which helps to reduce expenses and give back to our community at the same time.
