We're still collecting donations
On the 28th March 2023 we'd raised £954 with 12 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

We are Youth Matters Kirklees CIC, a new social enterprise. We are aiming to grow youth provision in the Colne Valley area through centre based activities, detached youth work and working in local schools setting up youth projects and mentoring plans. Providing familiar and consistent youth work helps to target the needs of the young people and the challenges they face today.
At present we are running 2 youth clubs at The Slaithwaite Civic Hall. 5pm - 6.45pm for juniors 8-12 years old. 7pm - 9pm for seniors 12 - 17 years old.
We have tripled attendee numbers the past few months and we now need to expand on our paid staff, this will avoid us capping the number of young people that attend.
This project impacts on young people and their families, we have over 100 registered young people from the Colne Valley area. Youth clubs provide a safe, inclusive and empowering environment that helps to build self esteem and confidence. They also help young people to build positive social relationships, make new friends and learn life skills.
We are crowd funding to pay 2 more staff members for our fast growing youth clubs. Due to tripling the numbers since we took over the clubs, there is currently only a budget for 2 paid staff. However instead of capping numbers we are wanting to pay more staff, as we have the space for more young people and we do not want to turn them away. All young people should have the opportunity to attend, we only open once a week and we are the only youth club in this area.
The money raised will pay for 2 Youth Support Workers. To join our very small team to reflect the rising number of young people that attend. This means we do not turn young people away and we are not at risk of closing if a current staff member can't work due to holiday or sickness. This will support the foundations of the club, extra support for the young people and offer continuity.
