The book 'Skye and Luna' is about the story of baby loss seen through a child's eyes, and is based on my personal experience.
In 2020, my little girl Luna died of SIDs when she was 3 days old. My daughter Skye (aged 3 at the time), went through meeting her baby sister, only to find her gone the next morning.
As an phenomenon, baby loss is hugely under discussed, especially with children within the family. It's tough to find appropriate language and terminology to express the experience of a family at this time. This has to change as baby loss is still common place in our society.
The memories of these babies can get buried due to an inability to find and express ways to remember them and keep their lights shining.
Not only does this stifle peoples ability to grieve and grow, but also means that experiences are not shared and practices improved as a result.
This book helps to honour those babies. May their memories shine!
