New stretch target
If we exceed our target we could use it to build a shed/tool storage unit with some seating for volunteers to take a break or shelter from inclement weather or better access for to site for all.
Where are we?
The meadow is located in West Lothian between the Burnside Terrace estate in Addiewell and Loganlea on the other side of the Skolie Burn. The village of Addiewell was at one time the largest oil works in the world and closed down in 1956. 
Why & Who are we
The idea of restoring the neglected meadow belongs to Ian Records (a lecturer in physics). He shared his concerns on the loss of 97% of flower rich meadows in the UK over the last 80 years (7.5million Acres!) with his neighbours in Addiewell. As a result of this Ian and 3 other trustees (a retired bank manager, a primary school teacher and a paralympian) formed the charity in August 2019 to try and do our bit locally for the environment.
The Meadow
Land amounting to approximately 10 acres is being transferred in to the charity's name however we need about £3000 to cover legal fees. Part of the land is designated SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) as the rare Great Butterfly orchid grows there.
Future Projects
Our management plan has future projects of fencing and paths to make land more accessible to the community. We already have funding to plant an orchard and soft fruit trees which will take place in the autumn of 2021. We have a partnership with the local primary school and the children will use the meadow for educational purposes. Volunteers from Edinburgh College have already been out to the meadow cutting down invasive plants to let the wild flowers grow. We also have interest from the Scottish Rural College helping us manage the land. The wildlife in and around Addiewell is varied and much more than you would think. We will ensure that we look after them during our restoration work.
Our Vision
The overall vision is for a community woodland/grassland set aside as a public amenity for the community to use for pleasure and study. To enhance the environment and restore a flower rich protected lowland neutral meadow.

For every £5 donated your name will receive one entry in to a draw to win a restaurant menu that was signed by 10 Rangers F C players (including Ally McCoist, Lorenzo Amoruso, Jorg Albertz & Ian Durrant) circa 1998. This is genuine and unique. To enter donate at least £5 and state Rangers in the comments section. For the draw to take place there must be a minimum of 20 entries received. Draw will take place on 17 February 2021.
