Skelmanthorpe Brass Band Community is asking for donations to help ensure the future of our bands and tuition groups.
This Christmas we will be playing in small groups around Skelmanthorpe and would encourage you to please make a donation to our cause. If you would like a particular Christmas tune/Carol/ Happy Birthday playing near your home during one of our sessions (Sunday 5th, 12th and 19th December; more details to be published on our Facebook page), we kindly ask you to contact us and make a donation. We will endeavour to fulfil your request.
If you are a past brass player or would like to learn how to play, please contact us or speak with us when you see us in the village as new members are always welcome and we have music groups to match all abilities.
About Skelmanthorpe Brass Band Community
We currently support Skelmanthorpe Band (Yorkshire Championship Section), Skelmanthorpe Community Band and Skelmanthorpe Training Band (supporting both youth and adult learners), together with brass tuition groups. We encourage players to develop their musicality and provide the opportunity of playing in a brass band regardless of age, experience or ability.
As most of our fundraising comes from concerts during the summer and Christmas seasons, this has been severely disrupted during the Covid pandemic so this is our major chance to raise funds to enable us to run our bandroom and continue to deliver high quality music within our neighbourhood.
About Save Our Brass Bands
Brass bands exist in every corner of the UK, with over 30,000 people of all ages and standards taking part in weekly activity – rehearsing, performing and providing entertainment for their local community.
But we risk losing this forever.
Brass Bands saw their main source of income disappear in an instant when they ceased being able to perform in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Without urgent support, we could lose our nation’s amazing Brass Bands. Please help us to make sure they survive this crisis and will be there to be enjoyed by future generations.
#SaveOurBrassBands
Please donate, share this page widely and do what you can to help us to make sure our Brass Bands survive this crisis.
