Aim

Building shelters to protect players and supporters from the weather while growing participation at the heart of our community.

Who are we?

Skelmanthorpe Central Bowling Club is a long-established community club at the heart of village life. With a proud heritage spanning generations, the club has brought people together through sport, friendship, and community spirit for many years. We welcome players, supporters, families, and visitors of all ages and abilities, creating an inclusive and friendly environment where everyone can enjoy crown green bowling and social connection. The club plays an important role within Skelmanthorpe, hosting matches, events, and activities that strengthen local relationships and encourage participation. We are committed to preserving our traditions while continuing to improve the club for future generations to enjoy.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to help build new shelters at Skelmanthorpe Central Bowling Club, providing protection from the weather for players, supporters, and visitors. The new facilities will create a more welcoming and comfortable environment, helping the club remain accessible and enjoyable throughout the year. As a community-focused club with a long village heritage, we want to encourage greater participation, support local events, and ensure future generations can continue to enjoy the social and sporting benefits the club brings to Skelmanthorpe. Every contribution will help strengthen the club’s role at the heart of the community and secure its future for years to come.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will be used to design, purchase, and install new shelters at Skelmanthorpe Central Bowling Club. These shelters will provide much-needed protection from rain and poor weather for players, supporters, volunteers, and visitors. Funding will also help improve seating and surrounding areas to create a more welcoming and accessible environment for everyone. By investing in these facilities, we aim to increase participation, encourage community events, and ensure the club remains a valued part of village life for future generations.

Community impact

The project will have a positive impact across the local community by creating a more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable environment at Skelmanthorpe Central Bowling Club. The new shelters will allow players, supporters, families, and visitors to enjoy the club in all weather conditions, helping to increase participation and attendance at matches and community events. As a long-standing part of village life, the club provides opportunities for social connection, wellbeing, and inclusion for people of all ages. Improving the facilities will help preserve this important community space and ensure it continues to bring people together for generations to come.
