Now for the full story...
Introduction
Hello! We’re an independent brewery called Siren. Founded in a small industrial estate in Berkshire 13 years ago, we’ve grown into a business employing more than 80 people, and brewing the equivalent of close to 4 million pints of beer in 2026.
In September this year we’ll be opening the doors to our brand new venue in the Brewery Quarter, Cheltenham. For a limited time only, we’re inviting the whole community to get involved, with some great rewards up for grabs at the same time.
Whatever you contribute, you'll receive 150% back to spend in the new bar, or online with our webshop. With your help, we'll go all-out in making this an exceptional space to complement the other offerings in the town.
You may have seen our beers in the likes of Waitrose or Marks & Spencer, had a pint of Lumina in a Fuller's pub or Craft Beer Co, or visited our first town centre tap room in the centre of Reading. We're proud to work with some of the best independent venues across the country. This is how we've grown as a brewery, and it will always be the heart of what we do.
We've been delivering direct to venues in Gloucestershire for 12 years now, so you may also have enjoyed a pint in The Railway, The Strand or Brewhouse & Kitchen, or picked up some cans from Favourite Beers, to name just a few spots.
Of course, we're also no strangers to the incredible team at DEYA, having poured alongside them for many years, and brewing collaborations together at both of our respective breweries.
Credibility
In terms of recognition, we had a great start in being named RateBeer's best new brewery in our first year. Since then, our flagship stout, Broken Dream, was awarded CAMRA's Supreme Champion Beer of Britain. Other awards for our beers have included World Beer Cup medals, International Beer Challenge trophies, and numerous 2026 Great Taste Awards.
More importantly, community has been incredibly important to us. In 2018, around 1,500 people came on board as investors in our brewery through equity crowdfunding. Before opening our first major bar in Reading, we ran a similar campaign to this one, whereby 1,777 supporters joined us in celebrating the opening of something different on the high street (and picking up over £400,000 of boosted bar tab at the same time!).
We're privileged to have so many people taking an active interest in what we do, and how we do it. We're in communication with our community all the time, and seek feedback as often as possible. It's always great to see people visiting Siren RG1 from all around the world, and heading straight to the supporters' wall to find their name etched in the venue.
What We're Doing
We're excited to bring our own flavour of hospitality to the Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham. Fittingly, it's a site that was home to the town's first commercial brewery for over 230 years. Nowadays it's a destination offering entertainment, dining and shopping.
The idea came about in March this year, with the unfortunate news that BrewDog had entered administration, causing the closure of 38 venues and 484 job losses. When we posted to offer our support to these teams and former crowdfunding investors, a swell of comments came back, with many suggestions that we look at the space in Cheltenham.
Visiting the site, we were hugely impressed with the Brewery Quarter team and their vision, and felt we could keep modern beer as a key feature of the development. We know first hand how much the BrewDog venues are missed, and the talented, passionate people who were affected. We're hoping to make something positive from such a hard situation.
So we'll be bringing more than 30 lines of brewery-fresh beer to the town centre, in addition to 3 cask handpulls.
But as with our other venues, this project won't be exclusively for beer drinkers. First and foremost it will be a place that you and your family and friends, and their friends, want to spend time in. So wines, cocktails and all kinds of non-alcoholic options will be given just as much attention as the beers. Creating an environment for everyone is so important to us.
In addition to that, we're working with culinary experts to re-shape our food offering prior to opening. It will be fresh and vibrant, pair perfectly with the drinks offering, and add to the social, community-centred vibe.
Finally, we're re-imaging the space to ensure it works for everyone. Whether it's casual pints in the bar area, cosy conversations in the booths, or a private booking in the new, dedicated space. We're excited for you to experience this whole new approach.
Get Involved
So, do you want to come along for the journey? This is a one-off opportunity to get involved directly in the project.
We’re inviting crowdfunder pledges starting from £50. By joining in, you’ll be able to redeem your pledge, plus a bonus amount, as credit on our webshop or bar tab in the new location.
Credit will be delivered in January and will be valid to spend for 18 months. It may be that we can deliver on this early.
Along with getting your boosted balance to spend with us, you’ll notice other exclusives on offer, including limited-edition merchandise, or access to unique events. All the information can be found on this page.
We would like as many of you as possible to be a part of this, but we're also on a deadline. We'll be running this page for just 4 weeks, with no extension. At that point, we'll need all our attention on launching the new bar!
Closing Note
Okay, so that was a lot of words. We’re doing everything we can to bring a positive story to Cheltenham this autumn. We’ll be working as hard as possible to make this a platform for independent businesses of all kinds, making the space an excellent place to spend time, whether you like beer or not. Or not yet. We hope that you’ll join us.
If there's anything you'd like to ask, please use this page to do so.

Testimonials
Don’t just take our word for it. Here are some thoughts from members of our community.
Antonio, Siren Crowdfunding Investor:
Despite living in Madrid, I have been always very close to and fond of the British craft beer scene, with a particular love for classic stouts and porters. I remember the plans for a canning line being particularly impressive, because along with the passion that many breweries have, there also seemed to be a business competence in the team.
Since investing I have flown in to attend several Siren events, notably the Time Hops festival and the 10th Anniversary party. I had the opportunity of exchanging some words with Darron and again, once the beer conversation flows, the business profile arises and gives me confidence in a well-managed company. I really enjoy being able to reach and talk with people including all the Siren team, but also the guests. (I especially remember meeting Dave Grant from Fierce, after seeing his Fierce t-shirt and chatting, I later found out he was the Founder and MD!).
It is a combination of fun, tourism, sense of community/being part of something. Living abroad and travelling, although a pain, makes it a little more epic or special. I love the mature, transparent and periodic information about the company, the business and the craft scene context, via newsletter and posts. Broken Dream might be my favourite Siren beer, so I can’t wait to drink one in the new bar.
Gavin, Siren RG1 Crowdfunder
“Backing the Reading RG1 crowdfunder gave me the chance to support Siren directly and help establish a venue that has become a regular destination for me. I chose a reward that included bar credit and a food and beer tasting menu, so there was a clear benefit as a supporter as well as the satisfaction of helping the project get started.
Since opening, RG1 has given me a reason to return throughout the year. There are regularly new Siren releases to try, a changing guest beer list, good food and a beer fridge with plenty of options to take home. It has delivered what I hoped for when I backed the campaign, and I would encourage people in Cheltenham to consider supporting their crowdfunder in the same way.” - Gavin W
George, Siren Tap Yard Customer
I love spending time at the Siren Tap Yard for many reasons. Firstly there is the selection of world class beers, from the regular offerings to the never ending variety of specials. It means every time I go I can try something new or go back to an old friend like Broken Dream. Then there is the food offering - from the in house pizzas and street food to the guest street food providers - they are always great and make a great accompaniment to the excellent beer. There are always events on at the Tap Yard from tastings to birthday parties to rugby matches on TV to beer festivals.
All are great to go to. And to go along with the food, drink and events there is the Tap Yard team. They are always friendly, helpful, engaging and knowledgable about what is availible and upcoming. They are always welcoming whether I'm popping in for a pint or two or collecting a web order.
I really enjoy the whole feel and vibe down at Siren. It's a great combination of a great local business interacting with and becoming part of the local community. I am slightly obsessed with Siren and my kids raise their eyebrows as they hear me evangelising about Siren, although they do this less now that they are old enough to enjoy it all themselves as well now!
