Thank you everyone who helped us to reach our stretch target, we can now afford world-class sound engineering for this year's Sing & Send projects! Professional musician Ben England founded Homechoir in 2020 to bring music to those isolated by COVID. Sessions are provided free via YouTube and our friendly, inclusive community of attendees provides social connection to those who 'chat' during live streams. Participants include many facing barriers to joining 'in person' music groups, including (from our recent survey) dementia, hearing loss, caring responsibilities, and cost.
Homechoir now has over 4300 subscribers and broadcasts over 100 hours per year. Our regular Sing & Send projects allow choristers to record together from their homes, and the resultant ensemble performances are showcased online and at live/online blended live events.
This year, our choristers have voted to record performances of three songs, Leave Her Johnny, Amy Beach's Peace I Leave With You, and Shoshone Love Song. The money raised will cover the cost of having these songs mixed by professional sound engineers.
