This project aims to bring some joy to you whilst helping support much needed local mental wellbeing projects.
This year has seen us all under extreme pressures that we could never have anticipated.
And we have all found our own coping mechanisms ... for me, it has always been about pausing to find and savour those unexpected moments - the daybreak clouds, a flower in the cracks, wildflowers, big skies, the ladybird climbing a stem.
Having a camera on my phone has meant I've stopped to capture those moments and it's some these of that I'm bringing together for a calendar and postcards to sell to raise funds for two local charities that provide so much for supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Just Let Your Soul Grow is an incredible Community Garden based in Sunderland that welcomes everyone and is maintained by amazing volunteers.
From providing a space to physically connect in the gardens and enjoying the vegetables and flowers produced, they've also provided activity days, yoga, reiki, sewing groups, exercise groups, wellbeing packs, art sessions, workshops for World Mental Health Day. And so much more in a beautiful safe space.
Even during lockdown, the garden is made available for people to visit in household bubbles, ensuring emotional wellbeing with nature. Free live exercise classes are now also being made available.
ANDYSMANCLUB are talking groups for men because…
'You’ve either been through a storm, currently going through a storm or have a storm brewing in your life'.
A group set up by Andy's mother and brother after they lost him to suicide, they started off as one group in the small, northern town of Halifax. That first night 9 men turned up and spoke. There was a magic in that room that everyone knew had to be shared.
They knew other guys across the country needed this same experience. They have worked tirelessly through Andy's memory to grow their clubs, and since February this year, there has been one in Sunderland.
All profits from the sale of my calendars and postcards will be shared between these two amazing projects to help support them to continue to provide the help, safe spaces, a listening ear and companionship that they do.
All pledges will also receive a personal note, to thank you!
