BUY A BULB LIGHT THE FUTURE, help us move one step closer to installing floodlights.
Sileby Town RFC (aka Sileby Vikings) is a thriving, community focused rugby club that has been at the heart of local sport for over 20 years. Built on strong family values, inclusivity, and volunteer commitment, the club has developed into a welcoming environment for players, supporters, and the wider community.
The drive and ambition of coaches, players and volunteers has developed into a thriving men’s team, competing in counties 3 league, and the women’s first team competing in NC3 with both aiming for promotion. The women’s team is going from strength to strength and new for the 2026/27 season the women will be fielding a second team in the Inner Warrior series.

Our current training set up is limited to half of a poorly-lit pitch with up to 40-60 men or women training at a time. Without adequate floodlighting training opportunities are restricted and limits what we can achieve in a training session with the teams not being able to reach their full potential due to the lack of space and lighting.
We're currently looking to have floodlights installed around our playing pitch with back lighting for our training pitch. Improved floodlighting is essential to support the growth, safety, and success of Sileby Town RFC, with all 3 teams thriving we need to be able to offer our members and the community good quality facilities.
Floodlights will:
• Increase participation
• Enable safer evening training sessions
• Support long term sustainability & growth of the club
• Enhance player and spectator experience
• Give us the opportunity to play under lights in the week which will earn the club a little more income, increase spectators and give our players a free weekend.
• Give us another training space which limits the need to hire out other venues at a significant cost to the club and helps with cup games played in the week when we have league games at the weekends.
• Significantly improve player retention by bringing the facilities in line with other local clubs.
• Teams being able to train on the same night
• Be able to offer our local community an evening choice for any activities they require outside space. We recently held a rugby taster session for the local brownies/guides and had Leicester Tigers Foundation borrow our ground to hold a session for vulnerable adults. With evening options, it broadens the times they can do this.
• Expand to walking/touch rugby
Every penny raised will go towards the installation of permanent floodlights through the RFU Facilities scheme alongside hoped for match funding. This is the 1st step to help us get there!

Permanent floodlights will have a lasting impact on both our club and the wider community. They will allow us to make full use of our facilities all year round, particularly during the darker autumn and winter months when training time is currently limited.
The floodlights will enable us to expand participation opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, supporting the continued growth of our men’s and women’s teams and our ambition to develop a junior section. They will also allow us to offer more taster sessions, community events and activities with local groups.
Improved lighting will create a safer, more accessible environment for everyone using the club, helping to reduce barriers to participation and encouraging more people to become active. As a volunteer-led grassroots club, investing in our facilities is an investment in the whole community, creating a welcoming space where people can build friendships, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, and feel part of something positive and inclusive.
