Aim

Sicily Environment Fund aims to protect and restore biodiversity and ecosystems in Sicily.

The Sicily Environment Fund (SEF) was established in 2022 to support local environmental and conservation initiatives in Sicily, helping communities becoming leaders in the transition towards long-term climate resilience. 

SEF is a member of Conservation Collective, a global network of local foundations funding effective grassroots conservation initiatives to protect the environment, restore nature and safeguard against climate change.

Our vision is to generate positive environmental change by raising funds locally and internationally to provide essential financial support to local partners for the implementation of grassroots projects or executing flagship programs to ensure the long-term sustainability of local initiatives.

We are nurturing a network to tackle some of Sicily’s most pressing environmental challenges. Across our ongoing projects we are promoting a community-driven strategy, to develop a circular economy for fishing gear, fostering social inclusion through gardening and composting, protecting agrobiodiversity, advocating for agroecology, addressing the wildfire crise, encouraging package-free purchasing, restoring coralligenous habitats, supporting Marine Protected Areas, and protecting endemic species.

We are already looking ahead for our 2026 pipeline of new initiatives! Our efforts to channel funds to local grassroots initiatives never gets tired and is fueled by the pride we take in witnessing such a growing community of people engaged in conservation actions.
We need your support to continue our mission, working closely with our local partners, offering guidance and assistance to help communities maximize the impact of their resources, promoting projects with strong environmental and social benefits, raising community awareness, amplifying the visibility of local commitment.
