Short Film - Faithless

Arthur is the owner of P.I.R.A, a Paranormal Investigation and Rehabilitation Agency. With help from his friend Frank, a mad scientist, Arthur follows multiple cases of people who have disappeared under suspiciously similar circumstances. In this comedy thriller, Arthur finds himself dealing with trauma from his past while Frank does his best to help his friend – neither of them knowing that one of their lives is in very imminent danger.

Faithless to me is a story about loss and loneliness, the main character suffers with grief of losing their family not through death but due to them being different. We follow how they navigate the world through comedy. Tragedy and comedy go hand in hand being so close to one another, I really want to explore that relationship. 

With the genre of the film being paranormal and our main character being a vampire the contrast of it being set in a church adds a humorous touch to the film from the setting alone. Since the church is so huge and dramatic, it makes all the characters appear small, again adding to the themes of loneliness and isolation.

Being a fan of comedy horrors, I wanted to include stylistically crunchier and more tactile makeup and overall feel to the film. Leaning into imperfections will add to the comedy of the film and compliment the characters quirks. 

I hope the audience laughs along with the silliness of this film and through this small snapshot into these characters lives, connect with them. With your help, we can make these amazing characters and funny story come to life!

Hey, I’m Eden. As a director, I aim to create stories that have developed characters with motivations and flaws that actually impact the story and their lives. Faithless’ main character, Arthur, struggles with guilt and identity, two themes I really want to explore and “humanise”. I also really want to branch into the comedy genre more, which excites me to be able to bring to life Arthur's best friend, Frank, the short-tempered, clumsy, comedic relief in Arthurs life. The story is incredibly funny and I cannot wait to bring it to life into a final product.  Bringing a background of horror films from working on ‘Guest 2’, and two previous horror shorts, I’m looking forward to working on a supernatural comedy and working with this talented crew.

Hey, I’m Lewis, the producer and writer for Faithless. For the last six years I’ve been producer for many various short films and Faithless is my biggest and most exciting project so far. Being able to create this world of comedic paranormal mystery has been so fun and I cannot wait to see the team create a final cut so we can share a story of mystery, twists, heartbreak, comedy, and some very sarcastic ghosts. I’ve poured many hours and days into writing this story into a funny thriller with interesting and unique characters and settings to shock and amaze. As producer I get the privilege of bringing the story to life and overseeing the production as it grows from a small concept to a (hopefully) award winning film.

Hello, I’m Xander and I’m the cinematographer for Faithless. I love gothic aesthetics and themes, and I love all things paranormal and supernatural. I hope to bring my passion for these genres and for cinematography to the project. Having grown up with TV shows like ‘Buddy the Vampire Slayer’, the subversive take our film has on the supernatural investigation genre is really exciting and something I can find a lot of enthusiasm for. Cinematography is such a technical and precise facet of film-making, all skills I want to build and expand on, and I am so excited to bring our film to life.

Hello, my name is Lukas, I am the sound designer for the film. I think sound is an underappreciated medium of the filmic world, something that is often overlooked in student films and films alike. I hope to bring a high standard quality to the mixing, adding to the overall atmosphere that we want to bring. I shall also be writing or having a close involvement with the score and the soundtrack of the film, personally hoping to boost the storytelling with my choices of music.

Hello, I am Elizabeth and I’m the editor for Faithless. For my three years at university I have edited many short films in many different genres and I am very excited to be able to edit such a funny and unique paranormal film. As the editor, I cannot wait to bring Faithless to life with it’s funny characters and heart breaking story of a man finding peace with his past sacrifices and what he’s become. With your help we can make this film the best it can be and the final result will be worth the wait.

Hi there, my name is Louisa and I am the production designer for Faithless. Being production designer essentially means that I get to be incredibly creative and design our costumes, sets, and makeup for our characters. With this being such a unique film it’s allowing me to experiment with new techniques to make the film look as realistic as possible considering we are dealing with paranormal creatures. I have always been interested in makeup and fashion so it’s been fun to tap into the characters and figure out their styles – it’s also given me the chance to improve my practical effects makeup. I cannot wait to show you all of our progress and the final product!
