Aim

We are wanting to raise £5.000 for Speaking Out, a 10-minute short film about Suffering with Depression.

Overview.

We are wanting to raise £5.000 for Speaking Out, a 10-minute short film about Suffering with Depression. The short film is about a young teenager who is about to commit suicide but gets a call just in time. The young boy then meets up and shares with his mother about his depression and how he is suffering with the condition. The main goal of this short film is to show that there is light at the end of the tunnel and there is no shame when someone is depressed, but if we only choose to share it with someone and talk to someone, things can change. Help us support the families affected by this mental health issue through making this short come to life.

Story.

We follow a young teenaged boy (Jay) with his battle with depression. about his fight with his mental condition, He sends his mother (Mel) a last message before he goes to commit suicide. His mum receives the text and is confused by the message so quickly calls (Jay). This is a story that follows this event as (Jay) feels lost and alone, and feels he has no one to turn to. But to his surprise his mum (Mel) encourages him to get the help he needs so desperately. With the support of his family, friends and medical institutions, will (Jay) surpass his condition? At the end of the film, we have 5 people with their real-life stories of their battle with depression and where they are now after speaking out.

What are we wanting to achieve?

The main goal of this short film is to show that there is light at the end of the tunnel and there is no shame when someone is depressed, but if we only choose to share it with someone and talk to someone, things can change. Help us support the families affected by this mental health issue through making this short come to life.

Risks and Challenges.

this is our first crowd-funder, we are asking members of Crowd funder to help us achieve and get this video done. Video is a great way to get things out there and to open the eyes of people. Many people suffer from depression and sometimes feel like they have nowhere to turn. Me being one of these persons that suffered with depression for many years but am so thankful I was able to share my problems and ask for help. As a sensitive subject to handle, we want to present this subject in the most ethically way we can. Please help us raise the money needed for this short film as we know this will be a great help to many people not just in the UK but for people around the world.

What will the donations do for us?

The money that is raised will help our project come to life. Working throughout the pre-production we have planned everything extensively and want to forward our efforts. Therefore, we hope to raise funds for short. Your contribution would go towards covering production costs, locations and acting talent. Therefore, we are relying on you, the people, the friends, the family, the supporters to do your part and make our dreams of recognising this issue and supporting those involved, a reality.

Charity.

The money that is raised after the goal has been reached will be given to Depression UK. Depression UK are a National Self-Help Organisation helping people cope with their depression.

Depression UK promotes mutual support between individuals affected by or at risk from depression, with the aim of encouraging self-help, recovery and personal growth.

We try to help our members by enabling them to share their thoughts and problems with fellow sufferers, because they know better than any non-depressed professional or carer does what it really feels like to suffer from depression.
