Who are we?

Shoreham Rowing Club is a small community rowing club located at the river Adur's mouth in Shoreham-by-Sea, East Sussex, established in 1862. The club is run entirely by our dedicated volunteers who invest countless hours to allow us to offer affordable rowing opportunities to local people of all ages and backgrounds.

Our club has its own boat house, boats, and indoor training equipment, providing a supportive and fun atmosphere for locals to make friends, keep fit and learn how to row both recreationally and competitively.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our clubhouse roof urgently needs replacing.

Following storm damage in February, our roof surrendered to the elements and now needs replacing. Alongside the roof - something which has been a fundraising target for some years already - there is now damage to the inside of the property requiring re-decoration & repairs. Take a look at the photos taken by our roofing contractor used for an emergency call out!

How we’ll spend the money raised

  • The roof - Our primary aim is to raise funds for the replacement of our roof which will also be insulated, adding warmth in the winter and keeping us cooler in the summer - we expect total costs to be approximately £30,000
  • Repairs to the inside - We estimate costs to repair the inside of the club to be close to £3,000.
  • Our May Regatta -  With the rising costs, we are increasingly reliant on sponsorships and donations to run our annual regatta. Last year, without our sponsors and donors the event would have lost £1,400

To help us reach our target, you will also see some amazing rewards including donations to invest in our Regatta trophies. We are grateful for all donations.

Community impact

The club currently has 99 members from 13 years old to members in their 80s.

Our local rowing club is essential for its community as it is not just about rowing, it is about bringing people together, keeping fit, and teaching us important things like teamwork. It's like a big family where we can stay active, make friends, and make a positive impact on our community all at the same time.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
