We have made the decision to temporarily close Shoe Tree Cafe as a sit down and eat service. We are deeply committed to supporting our staff, customers and wider community and are changing the way we do things for a bit.
We want to support local community action, mutual aid and be part of the efforts to support the vulnerable and the NHS.
We started with a meeting last night (14th March)with a small group of local people including the community liaison officer and have collectively set up an online community mutual aid page and would encourage you to get involved;
We are developing plans to financially support our staff and this crowd funder is set up as a way for customers to purchase vouchers for a deferred visit to Shoe Tree Cafe once we reopen fully;
Future food at Shoe Tree Cafe!
As employers, Joe and I are concerned that statutory sick pay for those who have to self-isolate is a financial punishment simply for doing the right thing. We want to do better by our staff, support them to do the right thing if they need to and protect the cafe from disappearing.
So, we are asking you to purchase a voucher for some future food or make a donation to help us survive a short term change to our service.
We are figuring out more plans based on government advice and available information and are asking our customers to trust in us and our commitment to trying to get it right.
We hope you can support us to redirect our energy at this time.
We are currently developing a local door step delivery service in order to ensure you don't miss out on Shoe Tree grub and hope to have this ready to run ASAP.
