SHOEBOX - An Original Play

Aim
I want to raise funds for my original piece of theatre that I want to perform locally in a more rural part of the country.
I have been working on this play for around two years now, but it is only recently I have started rehearsals for it. The play follows a group of friends and their individual stories. Each character's story tells a more caricatured version of things I have either experienced or seen other people experience in my life. One thing I want to achieve when directing and writing this play is for it to not take itself too seriously and add humour in places where other plays might avoid it. I hope by doing this it puts the viewing experience first and makes for a really fun and hopefully unique show. The play contains stories of romance, of grief and sometimes just plain old funny stories.
Another thing that is important to me for this project is to showcase how although it might not seem like it, our local area does have a lot going on in the creative sector and I hope by casting local aspiring actors and getting other local creatives involved this play can be a welcome addition to this area's creative discography. I also want this project to be something that my cast is proud of and for them to feel like the rehearsals (which are pictured throughout) are a good bit of experience for them.
The donations towards this project will hopefully go towards the venue and insurance costs as well as props and any money on top of that will go towards getting more interesting professional lighting or set for the play.
In terms of what made me decide to put on a play in the first place, I have always been fascinated by theatre and acting. I did my fare share of drama clubs as a kid and went on to do A Level drama. I Musically Directed an amateur musical theatre showcase last year and in doing so I learnt some of the skills needed to give me the confidence to finally direct my own play.
