the end of the beginning

Dear Ships & Castles friends and relations

Thankyou again for your steadfast support, and for all your brilliant comments here on Crowdfunder and on our socials.  We hope you are all surviving the onset of autumn. Our last month has included progress with the Council Devolution Deal (to get hold of the Ships & Castles site) and lining up the professionals we are going to need to move forward with the Ships & Castles refurb. That's all looking quite exciting, with the possibility of being able to fit 25m lanes into the existing structure looking ever more likely! 1668193114_photo-2022-11-11-18-10-12.jpgHere's a pic from just before Cornwall Council closed the doors at Ships & Castles in April - it's our visionary director Gemma Adams offering hope, which is what fuels all our volunteer efforts... and of course what powers this crowdfund ... our hope and YOUR generosity. THANKYOU!! Some of you will have already noticed that we have extended our crowdfunder schedule and increased our stretch target. You might be wondering why we are going a bit Oliver Twist ("More?! ... More?!") , so this is a quick update to let you know what's going on. As we approached the original closing date at the end of October, our friends at Crowdfunder HQ got in touch to say that Sport England might potentially be interested in backing our project IF we could drum up some local business backing in the shape of some Crowdfunder rewards and raise just a bit more. So over the last couple of weeks we have put together a selection of delectable rewards donated by our local business community and we will be putting these up on our crowdfunder page on Monday 14th November. Hopefully these rewards, combined with a further push from our community, will trigger a Sport England grant that could see us reach an amazing £40,000!

As well as paying for the technical work we need from engineers, surveyors, architect and plant technicians, this will also enable us to get ready to take on the lease and employ a coordinator.  This will give us the foundation we need to go into 2023 knowing that we've saved Pendennis Headland from development and are on our way to fixing our broken leisure centre.

So please bear with us - keep an eye out for the small but lovely range of rewards we will unveil on Monday, AND let your friends and relations know that there's more time and new opportunities to support Ships & Castles.  Thankyou very much :-D

Got an idea like this?

Over £400 million has been raised from our crowd to support the projects they love! Plus tens of millions more unlocked by our partners.
