Sherman Theatre is a Registered Charity. We rely on donations to ensure that we can continue to make exceptional theatre for the people of South Wales and beyond; nurture and develop Welsh and Wales-based writers and theatre-makers; inspire young people, and connect communities. | Mae Theatr y Sherman yn Elusen Gofrestredig. Rydym yn dibynnu ar roddion i sicrhau y gallwn barhau i greu theatr eithriadol i bobl De Cymru a thu hwnt; meithrin a datblygu awduron a chrewyr theatr Cymraeg ac sy'n byw yng Nghymru; ysbrydoli pobl ifanc, a dod â chymunedau ynghyd.

Based in the heart of Cardiff, Sherman Theatre is one of the leading producing theatres in the UK.

We tell local stories with global resonance through our Made by Sherman productions, platforming new writing and the work of Welsh and Wales-based theatre makers, alongside showcasing some of the best touring shows from across the UK.

The Sherman is a place for everyone, where everyone is welcome. Our aim is to ensure that as many people as possible are able to enjoy and take part in theatre, and we work hard to break down any barriers stopping that from happening.

Key to supporting this aim is the work of our Creative Engagement team:

  • Providing education workshops and creative activities that inspire, develop, and connect young people throughout Cardiff and beyond.  All of these opportunities are offered on an open access basis to support young people from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Through our Youth Theatre membership 210 young people between the ages of 4 and 18 are learning new skills, building their confidence and having fun.
  • We also offer creative development opportunities for anyone aged 18+ through our community theatre group, Sherman Players.
  • We have recently launched Sherman Makers, a community theatre group for anyone aged 18+ who is Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted, disabled, neurodivergent or is committed to making accessible theatre.
  • The theatre is a resource for our communities. We hold regular events including family workshops, Chatty Café mornings, and Tales and Tea daytime performances for older audience members- all designed to help bring our communities together, providing a social hub and helping to address challenges like loneliness and isolation.
  • Every three years we present a large scale community production inviting our diverse communities to tell their own stories on our stages.
  • To support affordable access to our work we offer Pay What You Want preview performances for all Made by Sherman productions as well as Half Price Tickets for everyone Under 25.
  • Alongside these schemes, our Sherman 5 pricing enables people who have previously never been able to engage with theatre the opportunity to do so.
  • We are proud to have been a Theatre of Sanctuary, somewhere where members of our sanctuary seeking community can feel safe and welcome, since 2019.

Wedi’i lleoli yng nghanol Caerdydd, Theatr y Sherman yw un o'r theatrau cynhyrchu mwyaf blaenllaw yn y DU.

Mae'r Sherman yn lle i bawb, lle mae croeso i bawb. Ein nod yw sicrhau bod pawb yn cael y cyfle i gael cyfoethogiad gan y theatr, ac rydym yn gweithio’n galed i chwalu unrhyw rwystrau sy’n atal hynny rhag digwydd.

Mae gwaith ein tîm Ymgysylltu Creadigol yn allweddol i gefnogi'r nod hwn:

  • Yn darparu gweithdai addysg a gweithgareddau creadigol sy'n ysbrydoli, datblygu a chysylltu pobl ifanc ledled Caerdydd a thu hwnt. Mae'r holl gyfleoedd hyn yn cael eu cynnig ar sail mynediad agored i gefnogi pobl ifanc o gefndiroedd a galluoedd amrywiol.
  • Trwy aelodaeth ein Theatr Ieuenctid mae 210 o bobl ifanc rhwng 4 a 18 oed yn dysgu sgiliau newydd, yn magu hyder ac yn cael hwyl.
  • Rydym hefyd yn cynnig cyfleoedd datblygu creadigol i unrhyw un 18 oed a hŷn drwy’n cwmni theatr amatur, Sherman Players.
  • Mae Sherman Makers, ein grŵp theatr gymunedol newydd, ar gyfer unrhyw un 18 oed a hŷn sy’n Fyddar, yn drwm eu clyw,yn ddall neu â golwg rhannol, yn anabl, yn niwrowahanol neu sydd wedi ymrwymo i greu gwaith theatr hygyrch.
  • Mae'r theatr yn adnodd i'n cymunedau. Rydym yn cynnal digwyddiadau rheolaidd gan gynnwys gweithdai teuluol, boreau Chatty Café, a pherfformiadau Paned a Stori yn ystod y dydd ar gyfer aelodau hŷn ein cynulleidfa - pob un wedi'i gynllunio i ddod â'n cymunedau at ei gilydd a helpu i fynd i'r afael â heriau fel unigrwydd ac ynysu cymdeithasol.
  • Bob tair blynedd rydym yn cyflwyno cynhyrchiad cymunedol mawr gan wahodd ein cymunedau amrywiol i adrodd eu straeon ar ein llwyfannau.
  • Er mwyn cefnogi mynediad fforddiadwy i’n gwaith rydym yn cynnig yr opsiynau Talwch Faint Hoffwch ar gyfer holl ragolygon cynyrchiadau Crëwyd gan y Sherman, yn ogystal â Thocynnau Hanner Pris i bawb o Dan 25.
  • Ochr yn ochr â’r cynlluniau hyn, mae ein prisiau Sherman 5 yn galluogi pobl sydd erioed wedi medru ymgysylltu â’r theatr o’r blaen i gael y cyfle i wneud hynny.
  • Rydym yn falch iawn o’n statws fel Theatr Noddfa,  rhywle y gall ffoaduriaid a cheiswyr lloches deimlo'n ddiogel a derbyn croeso a chefnogaeth.
