Aim

Sherborne Town Ladies is looking to improve our facilities at our new training facility, providing a future home many of our teams!

Who are we?

Sherborne Town Ladies is a volunteer run, community based women’s football club, formed in 2018. We operate on a not for profit basis, and all funds available are used to give a healthy, thriving football environment for young women and girls. We provide qualified coaching to over 150 young women and girls in Yeovil, Sherborne and surrounding areas. We pride ourselves in being able to provide safe, modern training facilities which are suitable for football at the highest level thanks to our amazing community partners.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our youth pathway will be completed this year, with teams running from our brand new U9's team, all the way to our U18 Junior Premier League team. With the number of girls playing football increasing in Sherborne and the surrounding area year on year, the club recognised the huge responsibility it has to help provide coaching provision and environment where these girls can grow. As the club has grown, so has the demand for facilities, and this year we took the enormous step of taking over the Yetminster Community Sports Club. The site boasts a full size 11v11 pitch and sizeable training pitch area, clubhouse, floodlights, tennis courts and even a croquet lawn! But..... we can see what this facility can become, not just for our own club, but for the wider community, local people, and other local sports teams.

The clubhouse, while a fantastic space, is in need of some modernising, and the main football pitch, floodlighting and training areas all need investment to ensure we can give our players a brilliant HOME that they can be proud of, and the local community a facility they are proud to use and support.

How we’ll spend the money raised

  • We plan to welcome our brand new U9's team into the Dorset Girls League, giving qualified coaching to a whole new team!
  • With the increased number of players training, we will need multiple venues to provide structured sessions, with some teams training twice per week.
  • All teams will have the equipment and playing kit they require to play
  • We would like to up skill our coaching staff, to ensure the players receive sessions which challenge them, improve their skills and provide them with the environment in which to succeed and make friends.
  • The showers and changing rooms at our Yetminster facility are in real need of repair and modernising, again to ensure we meet specifications for competitive football, and give players a comfortable and enjoyable experience when using the facility.
  • The main building is showing some wear and tear outside. The walls will need some minor repairs and will need painting, and we would like to improve the facilities signage to give it a clear identity to be proud of.
  • Inside the building, the main function area is in need of some minor repair and decorative works, again giving it the sleek, modern feel that the community can be proud of.
  • The club will have a Hardship Fund which will help those from

But the project will not stop here! Your kind donations will allow us to make some fantastic improvements that will make a huge difference, but we will continue to improve the facility year after year!

Community impact

Yetminster is a small rural village in Dorset, with a population of approximately 1,100 people. Like many rural communities, Yetminster faces challenges such as limited access to recreational infrastructure, an aging population, and fewer opportunities for youth engagement. The Yetminster Community Sports Club serves as a vital hub for local residents, offering space and support for a range of sports including football and tennis. In parts of West Dorset, almost 20% of children are classified as living in low-income families, showing a real need for accessible, low cost recreational or sporting activities.

Currently, the club is in need of significant improvements. The facilities are dated and no longer meet the needs of the growing number of participants or the expectations of modern sports environments. Upgrading the club will bring meaningful and measurable benefits to the entire community.

Enhanced facilities will encourage increased participation in sports among all age groups. This aligns with public health objectives, especially in rural areas. Refurbished sports facilities provide structured, safe, and positive outlets for young people, and organised sport has been shown to reduce antisocial behaviour and improve community cohesion. We hope that a revitalized Yetminster Community Sports Club will bring together people of different ages and backgrounds, allow us to host community events, tournaments, and family activities, and foster local pride in the community.
