Building a faith-based filmmaking community in Scotland through training, short films & creative collaboration.
My name is Rafael, and I’m the Creative Director of Shepherd’s Gate Films — a faith-based film studio based in Dunfermline, Scotland.
Shepherd’s Gate Films was founded with a simple conviction: storytelling can be an act of worship. Film has the power to communicate hope, redemption, and truth in a way few mediums can.
In 2024, we released our short film On The Road to Emmaus. It reached over 2,000 views on YouTube and culminated in a premiere attended by more than 150 people — including cast, crew, and members of the local community. That experience revealed something important: there are passionate, gifted creatives in Scotland who simply need opportunity and direction.
That’s why we are launching Through The Gate.
Through The Gate is not just a film project — it’s the beginning of a filmmaking community. Our vision is to create a space where filmmakers of all levels can:
• Learn practical filmmaking skills
• Collaborate on meaningful, faith-rooted projects
• Develop confidence and experience
• Build genuine creative community
We believe there are hidden talents across Scotland — writers, actors, cinematographers, editors, musicians — waiting to step into something purposeful.
The funds raised will be used to:
• Run hands-on training sessions and workshops
• Produce short films that develop skills and portfolios
• Invest in essential equipment
• Cover location, production, and post-production costs
• Create community gatherings for collaboration and learning
This isn’t about building one film. It’s about building people — and creating a sustainable foundation for future faith-based storytelling in Scotland.
