Aim: #SHEMoves wants to engage as many women & girls in sport & well-being programmes to improve their emotional, mental & physical health.

Who are we?

Monkstown Boxing Club is dedicated to transforming young lives through sport, offering education and wellbeing programmes—especially for women and girls—to help every young person reach their full potential.  We deliver a pioneering and award winning sport, wellbeing and youth project, open 6 days a week including school holidays, with a mission to help young people grow to be happy, healthy and successful adults. Our youth space ‘The Box’ provides children and young people with a range of activities, giving them the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, inspiring and positive coaches and youth workers.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We’re excited to introduce the #SHEMoves campaign which will help fight for the change needed for all women to feel a sense of belonging in the world of sport and physical activity.  #SHEMoves is a fresh new concept designed to redefine how girls and women experience exercise—empowering them to show up confidently and unapologetically as they are, sweat, imperfections, and all.

We’re raising funds for the #SHEMoves project to provide essential equipment and offer free classes for women and girls. By securing this funding, we can ensure that every participant, regardless of financial background, has access to empowering fitness experiences. This initiative will help break down barriers, promote inclusivity, and foster a supportive community where women and girls can embrace exercise in a safe, judgment-free space.

It’s driven by Sport England’s research that reveals only one in 10 women from lower-income backgrounds feel they completely belong – highlighting a lack of inclusion, affordability and tailored support.  The study, found that for women on lower incomes from underrepresented groups – including Black women, Asian Muslim women, pregnant women, new mothers, and older women – the challenges and feelings of not being included are even greater.

Physical activity has been proven to have a positive impact on mental health and well-being, with research showing that regular exercise can decrease levels of anxiety and depression, ease stress levels, and increase confidence. Engaging in sport can be a great way to meet new people and reduce isolation.

In a bid to raise awareness of the importance of physical health, its positive impact on mental well-being, Monkstown Boxing Club wants to raise £10,000 to ensure that women and girls experiencing mental health problems have access to appropriate help and can live free from stigma and discrimination.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The #SHEMoves crowdfunding campaign will provide a qualified female fitness and wellbeing coach, along with specific fitness equipment to create a safe, empowering environment for women and girls. Funds raised will enable the delivery of tailored fitness and wellbeing classes designed to build confidence, improve physical health, and support mental wellbeing. The campaign also aims to offer ongoing training for coaches, ensuring they are equipped to provide the best possible experience for participants. By focusing on women and girls health and fitness, #SHEMoves will create a space where participants can feel supported, empowered, and inspired to take control of their physical and mental health.

Your support, whether large or small, will help promote inclusivity, tackle health inequalities, and foster a sense of community. Every donation makes a difference—join us in this movement for change. Donate now and be part of empowering women to move confidently, both physically and mentally.

Community impact

The impact of the #SHEMoves project extends far beyond just fitness—it creates lasting change for the entire community. By empowering women and girls to engage in exercise unapologetically, we are helping to build self-confidence, promote mental and physical well-being, and challenge societal norms around body image. The project also fosters a sense of belonging and support, providing a space where women and girls can connect with others who share similar experiences.

Our facilities aren’t just used for sports—they serve as community hubs that host educational workshops, mental health support groups, and other initiatives aimed at improving the overall well-being of local residents. This wider approach ensures that the impact of #SHEMoves reverberates throughout the community, benefiting not just the participants but their families, peers, and beyond. With your support, we can create a more inclusive, healthier, and empowered community for everyone.
