Aim
Our previous detached shelter, was completely destroyed in Storm Eowyn and we are raising funds to install a new retractable canopy.
Project - A Shelter For All seasons
York Sports Club has been the home to our 4 Sports Clubs - Cricket, Rugby, Squash & Tennis and a respected community hub for nearly 60 years, hosting sports, events, and social gatherings for players, members and locals alongside numerous community ventures over the years.
Our patio is a fantastic spot to relax, socialise, and enjoy the sunshine... when it's not pouring with rain!
Our previous detached shelter, was completely destroyed in Storm Eowyn and we are raising funds to install a retractable canopy over the patio with heating, ensuring our community can gather, socialise and connect come rain or shine. Sport England will kindly pledge £7,500 if we raise a minimum of £7,500 ourselves through Crowdfunding
Why this matters
Extend your time at the Club - Our patio is a hub for outdoor activities, from socialising after sports training and matches, to BBQs and community meetings and a gathering place for members, locals and customers.
A canopy means we can keep going, whatever the weather!
It will be an Inclusive space. Creating a welcoming spot for everyone, regardless of the forecast. Perfect for families, seniors, customers with mobility issues and those who just love the outdoors (but not the sunburn or the rain!).
It will enable us to host more outdoor events and community activities, supporting local businesses and fostering connections.
Our Goal - We aim to raise at least £15,000 to design, install, and complete the canopy project. As mentioned above if we can raise a minimum of £7500, Sport England will pledge £7500 to our project.
